FIGHTING CHANCE PROMOTIONS PRESENT ‘CONQUEST’ - A NIGHT OF PROFESSIONAL BOXING ON JUNE 25th AT GATESHEAD LEISURE CENTRE

Fighting Chance Promotions are delighted to announce ‘Conquest’ - a night of professional boxing on June 25, at Gateshead Leisure Centre, which will be broadcasted on Made Television.

The bill includes a strong mix of some of the region’s most talented upcoming prospects alongside those more experienced.

Mark White (3-0) was one of the shining lights on Fighting Chance’s inaugural show in March, scoring two knockdowns against Phil Hervey, before coming out victorious via a 40-34 points victory.

‘Dynamite’ has adapted quickly to the professional ranks and as a result will be facing tougher opposition in his next bout.

Those who have attended his last two performances will know that Jone Volau TK (2-0) provides value for money when he steps into the ring. The Fijian Heavyweight has shown a crowd-pleasing aggressive style in both of his contests, and especially so in March, where he came past Remigijus Ziausys in a bloodied four-round battle.

At the age of 32, ‘The Brown Bomber’ has no time to waste, and is targeting silverware in the near future – in the form of the Northern Area strap. But before venturing for titles, TK will hope to boost his record to (3-0) on the ‘Conquest’ bill.

Stablemate Jamie Jones (1-0) will also feature. The former mixed martial artist was thrown in at the deep end upon turning over by being selected as one of Craig Dixon’s chief sparring partners.

And that experience appeared to pay off for Jones when he marked his professional debut in a one-sided contest against Aaron Robinson. ‘Boom Boom’ has won a variety of titles across as range of combat sports, and has high hopes that he can transcend that success into boxing.

While some of the fighters on the bill are at the very start of their career, others, who are more experienced, will be looking to get back to winning ways. Northern Area champion Gary Fox (11-4) has suffered three consecutive defeats, albeit two of which have been to stern opposition – in the form of Scott Cardle and Kirk Goodings.

Mal Gates’ highly esteemed gym has made headlines through the success of former Commonwealth champion, Anthony Nelson. And stablemate, Paul Gidney (2-0) will hope to follow in his footsteps. ‘The Dog’ is renowned for his hard work rate, and will be targeting a move to (3-0) on June 25.

Elsewhere, Danny Wall (2-0) and Basi Razaq (4-1-1) will also feature.

‘Conquest’ will be aired on Made Television, which broadcasts on Freeview channel 7, Virgin 159 and Sky Guide 117 for Made in Bristol, Made in Leeds and Made in Tyne & Wear, and Made in Cardiff on Freeview 134, Virgin 159 and Sky Guide 23.

Jamie 'Boom Boom' Jones ready to make seamless transition to boxing on March 26

There aren’t many fighters who get the opportunity to try their hand at both a career in professional boxing and mixed martial arts, but Jamie Jones is aiming to make a seamless transition to the pugilistic sport.

Jones featured in over 100 competitive bouts across a variety of combat sports, and took the plunge to turn professional in MMA under the Cage Warriors banner in February 2013. He quickly backed up his moniker of ‘Boom Boom’ as he developed a reputation as a crowd-pleasing, all-action fighter and held a record of (2-1-1).

However after reflecting on his career, Jones decided that he would make a return to the combat sport he first sampled as a 14-year-old, at Birtley ABC.

“I have kept myself busy in other disciplines, but boxing was never far away. I continued with it throughout my career in mixed martial arts and everybody would notice that my boxing was at a very high level.

“I always knew my passion was boxing. I’ve decided to be true to myself and just give myself a chance. I owe it to myself to be a professional boxer.”

Since joining Fighting Chance, Jones has been welcomed by familiar faces. He worked under Gary Barr and Ron Rowe at Birtley ABC and already knew stablemates Mark White, Craig Dixon and Jon-Lewis Dickinson.

The middleweight prospect did his research prior to signing, and soon realised that re-uniting with Ron Rowe and Gary Barr was the right move for his career.

“I would not just go professional with anybody, I had to do my homework first. But this is the right team for me and that’s why I chose to come here. Fighting Chance have four shows scheduled for this year, and I plan to feature on all four and build a solid foundation.

“I was thrown at the deep end when I arrived. I was chosen as one of Craig Dixon’s chief sparring partners ahead of his British title eliminator. That sparring was great and we brought each other on.”

The Gateshead-born fighter won British and European accolades in the amateur and semi-professional mixed martial arts scene, and with the help of hard work hopes to crossover his success to the professional ranks of boxing.

Many would question if turning professional at the age of 25 is too late to challenge for major honours, but Jones believes the opportunity has come at the perfect time in his career.

“It’s the perfect age for me to turn professional. At this stage in my life I’m mature and have life experience behind me. A lot of fighters turn professional when they are younger and as a result burn themselves out.

“Professional boxing is totally different to what I'm been used to, but I’m ready to make that step-up. Now is my time to push on and hopefully by 2017 I’ve got titles within my reach. I know what is involved to challenge at the highest level and that’s what I intend to do.”

Jones’ hard work and dedication is clear for all to see in the gym, and he is excited to reap the fruits of his labour on his professional debut, on March 26 at Gateshead Leisure Centre.

“I am in the gym every night and I am happy with how everything has been going. I have the right mentality, and no matter what I’ll push through and achieve my goals. “I’ve only been training with Fighting Chance since December and I already feel so much better.

“On my professional debut I’ll be firing on all cylinders. Everything is falling into place. I’ve got a really supportive family and girlfriend. When you get the right balance at home that is when you will go far. I know this is my time to succeed.”

Fighting Chance Promotions host ‘Genesis’ – a night of professional boxing show on March 26, at Gateshead Leisure Centre. The bill includes an array of North East talent, including Jon-Lewis Dickinson, Glenn Foot, Josh Leather, Jone TK and Mark White amongst others.

Tickets can be purchased from any of the boxers on the bill or from www.fightingchancepromotions.co.uk

Introducing Fighting Chance’s latest signing: Jamie ‘Boom Boom’ Jones

Former mixed martial artist, Jamie ‘Boom Boom’ Jones has signed a deal with Fighting Chance Promotions in a switch to professional boxing.

In making the turnover, the 25-year-old joins a growing promotional outfit after director Lewis Pendleton took out a promoter’s license last month.

The move will come as a surprise to many, but Jones, who has featured in over 100 competitive bouts across mixed martial arts, kickboxing and white-collar boxing is adamant that the transition to boxing is long overdue.

Subject to board approval, Jones will make his professional debut on Fighting Chance’s inaugural show, on March 26 at Gateshead Leisure Centre.

He said: “I have kept myself busy in other disciplines, but boxing was never far away. I continued with it throughout my career in mixed martial arts. Everybody would notice that my boxing was at a very high level.

“I always knew my passion was boxing.  I’ve decided to be true to myself and just give myself a chance. After all I’ve boxed since I was seven years old. I owe it to myself to be a professional boxer.

“Now is the right time. I’m at the perfect age as I’m mature and have life experience. I know what is involved to challenge at the highest level and win titles, and that’s what I intend to do.”

In his youth, Jones boxed at Birtley ABC and is therefore already familiar with some of the names at Fighting Chance – including Mark White and Craig Dixon.

The Gateshead-born fighter won British and European accolades in the amateur and semi-professional mixed martial arts scene, and with the help of hard work hopes to crossover his success to the professional ranks of boxing.

The middleweight prospect added: “Upon signing for Fighting Chance, I did my homework first. I would not just go professional with anybody. This is the right team for me and that’s why I chose to come here.

“They have four shows scheduled for this year. Hopefully I can feature on all four and build a solid foundation.

“I am in the gym every night and I am happy with how everything has been going. I’ve only been training with Fighting Chance since December and I already feel so much better. Come March 26, I’ll be ready to fire on all cylinders on my professional debut."

Subject to board approval, Jamie ‘Boom Boom’ Jones will make his professional debut on ‘Genesis’, on March 26, at Gateshead Leisure Centre. Tickets can be purchased via any boxers on the bill, or on www.fightingchancepromotions.co.uk
