FIGHTING CHANCE PROMOTIONS PRESENT ‘CONQUEST’ - A NIGHT OF PROFESSIONAL BOXING ON JUNE 25th AT GATESHEAD LEISURE CENTRE

Fighting Chance Promotions are delighted to announce ‘Conquest’ - a night of professional boxing on June 25, at Gateshead Leisure Centre, which will be broadcasted on Made Television.

The bill includes a strong mix of some of the region’s most talented upcoming prospects alongside those more experienced.

Mark White (3-0) was one of the shining lights on Fighting Chance’s inaugural show in March, scoring two knockdowns against Phil Hervey, before coming out victorious via a 40-34 points victory.

‘Dynamite’ has adapted quickly to the professional ranks and as a result will be facing tougher opposition in his next bout.

Those who have attended his last two performances will know that Jone Volau TK (2-0) provides value for money when he steps into the ring. The Fijian Heavyweight has shown a crowd-pleasing aggressive style in both of his contests, and especially so in March, where he came past Remigijus Ziausys in a bloodied four-round battle.

At the age of 32, ‘The Brown Bomber’ has no time to waste, and is targeting silverware in the near future – in the form of the Northern Area strap. But before venturing for titles, TK will hope to boost his record to (3-0) on the ‘Conquest’ bill.

Stablemate Jamie Jones (1-0) will also feature. The former mixed martial artist was thrown in at the deep end upon turning over by being selected as one of Craig Dixon’s chief sparring partners.

And that experience appeared to pay off for Jones when he marked his professional debut in a one-sided contest against Aaron Robinson. ‘Boom Boom’ has won a variety of titles across as range of combat sports, and has high hopes that he can transcend that success into boxing.

While some of the fighters on the bill are at the very start of their career, others, who are more experienced, will be looking to get back to winning ways. Northern Area champion Gary Fox (11-4) has suffered three consecutive defeats, albeit two of which have been to stern opposition – in the form of Scott Cardle and Kirk Goodings.

Mal Gates’ highly esteemed gym has made headlines through the success of former Commonwealth champion, Anthony Nelson. And stablemate, Paul Gidney (2-0) will hope to follow in his footsteps. ‘The Dog’ is renowned for his hard work rate, and will be targeting a move to (3-0) on June 25.

Elsewhere, Danny Wall (2-0) and Basi Razaq (4-1-1) will also feature.

‘Conquest’ will be aired on Made Television, which broadcasts on Freeview channel 7, Virgin 159 and Sky Guide 117 for Made in Bristol, Made in Leeds and Made in Tyne & Wear, and Made in Cardiff on Freeview 134, Virgin 159 and Sky Guide 23.

DANNY WALL KEEN TO IMPRESS ON MARCH 26th TRAINING STATESIDE

Pegswood-born boxer Danny Wall makes his second professional outing on March 26, at Gateshead Leisure Centre and is keen to impress after hosting part of his training camp in Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old trained at the Wildcard Gym, which is famous for hosting a number of world champions, including Manny Pacquiao, and for a period Amir Khan.

Wall’s five-week training camp included a plethora of high-quality sparring and sessions with famed coach Freddie Roach.

“People travel from all over America to train at the Wildcard Gym. The sparring was the standout feature. I had some brilliant rounds and took something valuable out of every session.

“When I got there it didn’t seem real. I was nervous beforehand because it’s a gym full of world champions and has quite a hostile atmosphere. But after my first spar I proved that I could really fight and it was easier from that point onwards.

“I haven’t got time to waste and the experience brought me on leaps and bounds. I want to give myself every opportunity to succeed. You will see improvements on fight night, but it won’t be until I’m doing eight and ten round fights that people will really start to take notice of what I’ve learnt.”

On his professional debut in November, Wall clinched a laboured win against Scott Hillman, winning by a margin of a single point.  While things didn’t go to plan, he is assured that he learnt a valuable lesson from that experience.

“Scott Hillman was a tricky fighter. I hit him with clean shots in the first round and he didn’t budge. Then he adjusted and was hard to catch clean again. He ended up coming on strong towards the end of fight, which made it difficult and close on the scorecards.

“But I learnt a lot from that experience, and my coach Tommy Conroy believes I’m a totally different fighter now to how I was then. I’ve just got to keep progressing and getting better by putting the hard work in.”

Back in September, Wall was initially scheduled to make his professional debut in Morpeth – just a stone’s throw from his hometown of Pegswood.

However a last-minute pullout from his opponent meant his dream to headline a professional boxing bill in front of his home fans was left unfulfilled.

Although Wall believes a return to Morpeth could be on the cards in the near future.

He added: “When I got pulled off that bill, my fans all stayed and watched the other three fights. People were upset but no one kicked up a fuss. They were very understanding.

“It’s always been a dream to headline a bill in Morpeth. I’m hearing some good things and hopefully I can fight there very soon. I’ve got a loyal support and they deserve a reward for that.”

Fighting Chance Promotions host ‘Genesis’ – a night of professional boxing show on March 26, at Gateshead Leisure Centre. The bill includes an array of North East talent, including Jon-Lewis Dickinson, Glenn Foot, Josh Leather, Jone TK and Mark White amongst others.

Tickets can be purchased from any of the boxers on the bill or from www.fightingchancepromotions.co.uk

Jon-Lewis Dickinson in Latvia to act as chief sparring partner for Mairis Breidis

Fighting Chance cruiserweight Jon-Lewis Dickinson is currently in Latvia to act as one of Mairis Bredis’ chief sparring partners.

Bredis’ management sought out Dickinson’s services ahead of their IBF inter-continental clash with Danie Venter on Feb 21.

The County Durham boxer is one of two sparring partners alongside Iago Kiladze – who holds a record of 24 wins and one loss.

Speaking on his time in Latvia, Dickinson said:

“It’s a great experience to be out here. I’m trying to pick up tips from a different training environment and learn as much as I can.”

2016 could prove to be a busy year for the 29-year-old as he prepares for his first fight since a career-best victory against Stephen Simmons in April, where he lifted the WBC International Silver title.

Dickinson will headline 'Genesis' on March 26, at Gateshead Leisure Centre, which includes a host of other North East talent, including Josh Leather, Jone TK, Mark White, Herry Biembe and Basi Razaq amongst others.

Tickets for Genesis can be purchased from any boxers on the bill or from www.fightingchancepromotions.co.uk.

Jon-Lewis Dickinson and Fighting Chance Promotions would like to thank Revgear and WM Utility services for their continued support.
